As we delve deeper into the practical implications of longer life expectancies, how do we prepare as family businesses for a society who is living longer than ever before?

Soon, living to over 90 will be the norm, rather than the exception. Whilst other professionals are encouraged to re-skill and re-invent themselves with multiple careers and multiple transitions; as family business owners the loyalty to – and responsibility of – the business impacts these decisions.

To explore the challenges and opportunities a longer lifespan creates for family businesses, Boodle Hatfield will be hosting a lunchtime roundtable for FBUK members.

This interactive discussion hopes to cover reshaping succession planning, the pros and cons of family members working in different industries before coming into the family business along with ensuring the next generation are motivated to come into the business at a later date whilst navigating the need to having tools in place such as an emergency board plans to cater for all outcomes as our CEO’s retire later in life.
