Family Business Visit: Palmers Brewery
A Brewery which stands up to its impressive location, the history of Palmers almost dwarfs the cliffs of the Jurassic Coast.
Palmers Brewery have been brewing fine cask ales at the Old Brewery in Bridport, Dorset since 1794. The only remaining thatched brewery in the UK, located to the south of the town by the weir. The brewery’s water wheel, forged in 1879 at a Bridport foundry, still turns alongside the main channel before the river twists and turns the last mile to its mouth at West Bay, gateway to the Jurassic Coast.
Join for a bespoke tour which will showcase the brewery’s Malt Loft overlooking the river which historically powered the brewery and will take you through production process of five award winning ales.
You will hear about their experience as a family business with a focus on:

- the long-termism which comes through custodianship
